The idea of unconditional income for all isn’t new. It’s been widely debated for years, but is now gaining traction as technological unemployment becomes all the more apparent throughout the world. As robots – rightfully! – relieve us from unnecessary, dangerous or simply boring labor, we’ll need intact an efficient social welfare system that’ll ensure/insure enough compensation for us to survive, and even thrive, on.
Another term for it is called a ‘Basic Income Guarantee‘ (BIG), which is being popularly proposed as a means of alleviating poverty by Alan Sheehan, who is the author of Basic Income Guarantee: Your Right to Economic Security.
